January 27th, 2013

Making sure your child learn all about road safety from a young age is key to preventing accidents later on in life. Our Toddlers at Humberstone Day Nursery have been learning about the Green Cross Code.

The Green Cross Code

With young children, focus on the core steps:

  • Find a safe place to cross
  • Stop at the kerb
  • Look right
  • Look left
  • Look  right again
  • If the road is clear, cross – don’t run!
  • Keep looking and listening for traffic as you cross

Reading to young children is known to be extremely beneficial for learning, communication skills and emotional development.  Reading to your children is one of the most important things you can do with them in the early years before they enter structured education. A library plays a very important role in promoting the progress of knowledge in young children. Libraries are a great places where carers, parents and children can come to enjoy reading, or they can borrow the books to take home for free. Make use of your Local Library.
